"If you start thinking to yourselves, 'I did all this. And all by myself. I'm rich. It's all mine!" – well think again. Remember that GOD, your God, gave you the strength to produce all this wealth so as to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors – as it is today."

Deuteronomy 8:17-18 MSG

The basic premise of stewardship is that we are charged with taking care of all that God has given us. This expands the scope beyond budgets and finances to the earth and each other. Our entire life is wrapped up in steward ship of God's gifts. We at Resurrection have been richly blessed by those who came before us and we must pass the blessing forward.

There are four important principles about biblical stewardship we must understand:

Many of us use technology in all areas of our life. People use the available technology to pay for utilities, credit card payments, and make donations on a regular basis to Resurrection Lutheran. We participate in the Simply Giving Program endorsed by Thrivent Federal Credit Union. The needs of our congregation are year-round, and the services of the church to children, the homebound, and the people searching for God are on-going.

Sometimes people wonder why the church is interested in recurring donations. These are many benefits to the congregation:

- It reduces check writing for frequent donors
- It allows donations to contintue uninterrupted during absences
- It allows donations to be spread out over time
- It reduces administrative costs for organizations
- It allows direction of donations to multiple accounts (General Operations, ELCA Benevolence, Local Benevolence, Roof, etc.)

Stewardship involves more than money. God has blessed each of us richly with special gifts (talents) and our life itself (time).

We all have unique talents and gifts which God intends us to use those talents in service to God and our fellow man. Resurrection Lutheran Church offers many opportunities to serve. Some are short term commitments and some are long term.

The Resurrection Trust Fund was established in 1999 as a living endowment of its faithful members with rich gifts and varied talents. The purpose of the Trust Fund is to establish to the Glory of God new ministries and stewardship opportunities additional to and apart from the general operational and benevolence budget of the congregation.

The Trust is able to receive gifts of cash, securities, life insurance, memorials and other assets. These gifts are invested in secure financial instruments which yield an interest return. Because our vision is that "Christ is ALL and in all," the interest will be used to fill our mission "to make deciples and present them mature in Christ." The larger the amount of money in the Trust Fund, the greater the amount of interest money available for ministry. What a wonderful, thoughtful way to remember and honor someone! A gift to the Trust Fund is a gift that keeps on giving beyond our mortal lifespan. Contributions qualify for tax deductions.

Online giving is not possible at this time. Watch this space for future updates.

The Thrivent Choice program is a charitable grant program that allows members to recommend where Thrivent Financial for Lutherans distributes a portion of its charitable grant funds each year. It is a joint program of Thrivent Financial and its member chapters.

Thrivent Financial and the Thrivent Federal Credit Union are two of the financial opportunities our members are encouraged to explore to connect faith and finances for good.
